It is a national-level exam conducted by CBSE to determine eligibility of candidates to be appointed as teachers for Classes 1 to 8 in central / government-aided / recognised schools.
Qualifying CTET is often a mandatory requirement for recruitment in many schools (like central government schools, Kendriya/NVS etc.), though CTET itself doesn’t guarantee a job.

Paper II — For those aiming to teach Classes 6 to 8 (Upper Primary / Elementary)
If a candidate wants to be eligible for teaching classes 1–8, they may appear for both papers (if eligible).

Who Is Eligible (as of 2025–26)
Eligibility varies depending on which Paper (level) you apply for. Basic conditions: Indian nationality, meeting educational qualification & minimum age (17 years).
Age Limit: Minimum 17 years; there is no upper age limit.
Note: Clearing CTET gives eligibility to apply for teacher posts — job depends on recruitment by schools/employers
